Admission Requirements for PG Degrees in Poland

Higher education institutions in Poland offer wide-ranging degree courses including full-time, extramural, evening and external courses. Poland welcomes applications from students across all countries for these degree courses and considers the applications  of international students with utmost priority irrespective of their origin, color, religion etc. This article gives you details of admission requirements of PG degrees in Poland. 

Poland offers choice of pursuing PG degrees just after Matura or matriculation certificate for five years of Magister in the first year of their university or supplementary 2 year course after Bachelor’s degree.

To enter the Second-Cycle studies you can hold licencjat or inżynier (Engineer) degree, the Master’s degree (magister or an equivalent degree) or equivalent of higher education Polish diploma.

The criteria for the admission in postgraduate courses in Polish Universities are based on following:

  4. Chosen course

General guidelines to get admission in PG degree in both university-type and non-university type institutions are same. One of the typical requirements is matriculation certificate or Matura certificate or equivalent.

Admission Documents

Find below some crucial admission documents required for candidates applying for Masters Degree both  full time and part time in Polish Universities:

  • Matriculation certificates: Original high school diploma or a copy issued by the candidate’s high school or equivalent qualification or the duplicate issued by the organisation.
  • Bachelors degree:  Bachelor diploma (Degree) including the supplement or an official duplicate issued by the university.
  • Candidate’s CV with the details about the school and college.
  • Two references, one academic reference and one personal reference. References should be valid and appropriate.
  • Duly filled application form.
  • 4 recent  passport-size photographs
  • Copy of the candidate’s ID proof (passport)
  • Medical certificate without contradiction for studying.
  • Admission fee payment receipt.
  • A certificate confirming proficiency in the Polish language
  • Copy of health insurance valid in the Republic of Poland.
  • Proof of English language proficiency: If English is not your first language then you should prove your proficiency in English through international tests such as TOEFL (secure English proficiency tests), IELTS, Pearson English Proficient, Cambridge English advance and Cambridge English proficient. These tests are valid for 2 years only. If a candidate did not secure good marks in above mentioned tests, most of the Poland Universities offer pre-session courses for the candidates to prepare for academic study.
  • Valid Student visa-The candidate should have a valid student visa. Generally a student visa is valid for 6 months course and you don’t have any right to work in Poland part time or full time during your course duration.  The candidates should have 4 tier general visas for the courses of more than six months.
  • The candidate should have tier 4 general Visa even if the course is less than 6 months if they want right to work or may wish to extend their studies in Poland.

It is crucial to note for students here that all documents issued in foreign languages should be translated into Polish by a sworn translator in Poland.
