Types of Degree Programs in Poland

Poland is a must consider destination, if one is looking to pursue his/her degree programme in a country having one of the richest and the oldest education histories. Education was considered as national goal of the Polish rulers for centuries and the first university in the country was found in XIV century. Polish university education system commenced operations around 650 years back when its goal was to educate high profile professionals. Structure of Higher Education in Poland

Present structure of higher education in Poland is based on the law of higher education formulated on 27th July, 2005. In Poland, the higher education system is divided into two kinds of institutions namely; public and private. However, before 1990 there were only state level higher education institutions. Then the Higher Education Act of 1990 was formulated which resulted in the creation of non-state higher education system. The courses which were to study in these higher education institutions were decided after the formulation of the Schools of Higher Professional Education in 1997. Currently, there is both the university type as well as the non-university type education institutions in Poland.

Tution Fee

Tuition fee applicable for Master’s and Post graduate programmes is:
  • €3,000 per year for doctoral, post graduate and specialist courses along with scientific, habilitation and artistic internships.
  • €3,000 per year for vocational courses and apprenticeships.
  • € 2,000 per year for a language course such as the course preparing for studying in Polish.
Tuition fee applicable at a private higher education institution is established by the institution itself. Mostly, this tuition fee ranges from € 2,000 to 6,000 per year else depends on the institution and study programme. For medical and MBA students tuition fee at the private institutions might range from € 8,000 to 12,000 per year.
